PRESS  COMMUNIQUE

Web Site for Electronic System of Travel Authorization Now Available in French and Dutch for U.S. - Bound Travelers from Belgium

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has announced that the Electronic System for Travel Authorization Web site has been enhanced to better facilitate travel by nationals of Visa Waiver Program countries to the U.S.

Instructions on how to obtain an electronic travel authorization are now available in 13 additional languages: Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Icelandic, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Portuguese, Slovene, Spanish and Swedish.

As a reminder, ESTA, which increases the security of air travel to the United States and will help to preserve the future of the Visa Waiver Program, is an internet-based application that takes on average only a few minutes to complete.

It has been available since August 1, 2008, and will be a requirement for Visa Waiver Program travelers by January 12, 2009.

Travelers who plan going to the United States under the Visa Waver Program are encouraged not to wait for the January 12, 2009, mandatory implementation date and to already familiarize themselves with a system which is now available in their language, which is fast and easy, and which does not cost anything.
