White House announces the nomination of Sam Fox to be United States Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium.

The President has nominated Sam Fox, of Missouri, to be Ambassador of the United States of America to Belgium." Mr. Fox would succeed Ambassador Tom C. Korologos, who will return to the United States early in 2007.

A businessman from St. Louis, Missouri, Mr. Fox is founder, Chairman and CEO of Harbour Group Ltd, a very successful private operating company that specializes in the acquisition, development and operation of high-quality companies.

Mr. Fox has long been extremely active in civic affairs in St. Louis. He has served in key leadership roles in the cultural, educational and charitable institutions of that city including the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Barnes-Jewish Hospital, the Saint Louis Science Center, Civic Progress, the Boy Scouts, the Saint Louis Art Museum and the United Way.

He has also been a strong supporter of Washington University in St. Louis, serving as a Trustee and as Chairman of the Campaign for Washington University. In 2006, the University dedicated the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts in honor of his service.

Mr. Fox has received numerous awards, including Honorary Doctorate of Public Service from Saint Louis University, Honorary Doctorate of Laws from Washington University, the Woodrow Wilson Award for Corporate Citizenship and St. Louis Citizen of the Year.

Mr. Fox was born and raised in Desloge, Missouri. He graduated from Washington University and served in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He is married to Marilyn Widman Fox. They have five children.
