The U.S. Embassy in Brussels is looking for a Part Time (20h/ week)
Registered Nurse
(ref. FY10-12)
Duties:
The Registered Nurse counsels employees on various health issues, family and health problems and must be familiar with Belgian medical practices and procedures.
He/ she treats and dispenses medication and provides client education on medical issues. Incumbent maintains communication with Regional Medical Officer, FS Nurse Practitioner, and Regional Psychiatrist as needed and provides support in long-range health issues. He/ she also administers medical clearance exams and immunizations and must be skilled in resuscitation and emergency measures for handling anaphylactic reactions.
He/she maintains records, writes reports and updates annually the Emergency action plan and acts as the medical advisor. The Registered Nurse also administers emergency first aid and activates local emergency systems, as needed. He/she needs to maintain a current cardio-pulmonary resuscitation certification and must be able to provide information for prescribed or over the counter medications.
Profile:
1. Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required.
2. Experience: A minimum of 1 year work experience as a professional nurse or a diploma certifying graduation from a three-year diploma program of professional nursing and a minimum of 1 year of work experience as a professional nurse is required.
3. Language Requirements: speaking, reading and writing (level IV) in English is required.
4. Job Knowledge: A good working knowledge of medical conditions, procedures and terminology is required. A certification in BCLS with instructors BCLS certificate is desirable. Must have good administrative skills.
5. Skills and Abilities: Computer skills are required. The ability to maintain confidences in office and patient communication is required.
