Federal Benefits & Taxes

Taxes

U.S. citizens, even those residing abroad, must file a federal tax return and report their worldwide income. The Internal Revenue Service developed Publication 4732, Federal Tax Information for U.S. Taxpayers,  as a resource to assist taxpayers in locating useful tax information to help in the preparation of their tax returns and/or in resolving tax account problems. The Publication can be found on http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p4732.pdf and is available at the Consular section.

Tax forms

Each year, usually by early March, the Embassy receives a selection of federal (not state) tax forms and information booklets. You may pick up forms during our operating hours or send us a self-addressed stamped envelope to order forms by number and name.

You can also download the appropriate forms from the Internal Revenue Services-website or phone us in order for us to send you the necessary forms.
