PRESS COMMUNIQUE
Use of Web Based Visa Application Form
As a reminder, since Belgium participates in the Visa Waiver Program, most Belgian citizens do not need a visa to travel to the United States for tourism or business for 90 days or less, However, in that case, they need to obtain an electronic ESTA travel authorization.
Starting on April 26, 2010, applicants for U.S. non-immigrant visas in Belgium will be required to use an online visa application form (the DS-160). This web-based form incorporates all prior and existing paper application forms for non-immigrant visas (NIV) into one interactive, online system. The new form takes advantage of new technologies to better serve our visa applicants and to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the visa application process.
Applicants will continue to complete visa application forms on-line. With the new system, the applicant will upload a visa photograph and submit the form via the Internet. The applicant will print just one confirmation sheet upon completion of the DS-160 to present at the visa interview.
